Since the current assembly term concluded on November 26, Shinde announced his resignation as chief minister on Tuesday. Accompanied by Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, he presented his resignation to Governor Radhakrishnan at Raj Bhavan in Mumbai. Until a new administration is established, he will continue to serve as caretaker CM.
With 230 of 288 seats won by Mahayuti, the BJP took 132 seats, the Shiv Sena 57, and the NCP 41. The Congress-led MVA, meanwhile, sustained significant losses.
